Based on the information I've read on the forums it seems the problem has existed for a couple years but apparently was never submitted as a bug. I found this link for the patch that introduced hid-twinhan ....

I just went to set up an HTPC again the other day and pulled my old Twinhan remote out to run it and noticed it no longer worked.
