Your initial report looks like an X or VMware bug. Your second report is a separate problem and is likely to be a graphics driver or hardware problem, but you say neither what hardware nor which of xine-lib's video output drivers is in use. Regardless, this isn't a gxine bug, but one in xine-lib or X.
