** Description changed:

About 1 month after installation of Ubuntu 11.04 ( around end may 2011) my
network failed to
start. Found later that after 5-10 minutes the network was running
automatically!
Because my on-board was defect, I had installed a Gigabit Netword Card
(Sweex) and disabled it in the Bios. This was a half year earlier.
Trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 I had the problem also with the Live CD (all
versions of ubuntu and even OpenSuse). My conclusion: kernel problem.
In order to debug further I bought a second Gigabit card: no success. But
installing a 10/100 Network card solved the problem.
This delayed activation I do not understand, but is not all to hard to solve
I think.
The problem is solid as a rock.
Hope you can reproduce the problem.
