I'm not exactly sure what you're asking for with "make and model of device". The laptop is a Gateway MT6821 (intel chipsets), and I don't know much more about the make and model of the optical drive other than what dmesg tells me: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive.
In the bios, the drive is listed as a PATA (ide) drive. The hard drive is a SATA. The dmesg and lspci logs are all from the 2.6.16-20-generic kernel. If you'd like me to boot to -15-generic and give new ones, just let me know. Thanks for the help, if there's anything else I can provide, let me know! -- cdrom won't mount in 2.6.20-16-generic kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118188 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
