I would like to see this one confirmed and, as needed, expanded upon. I also have lost the brightness and audio controls, but they came back eventually, with F5/F6 still acting weird (see here for what they do now instead of changing the kb backlight brightness:https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings- daemon/+bug/961853)
