** Summary changed:

- 12-hour clock type not functioning in Gnome panel of zh_CN locale
+ 12-hour clock type not functioning in Gnome panel clock of zh_CN locale

** Description changed:

- I'm using Ubuntu Feisty in zh_CN locale. The Gnome panel clock does provide
an option to change the clock type between 12/24-hour, but it's not
functioning. For example, assumed that it's now 11:45 pm, and I choose 12-hour
as the clock type in Preferences of the panel clock. The time is still
represented as 23:45. Restarting X doesn't help.

I had a look at /usr/share/i18n/locales/zh_CN, and saw a line like this:
+
  am_pm "<U4E0A><U5348>";"<U4E0B><U5348>"
+
And they're the exact words of am/pm in Chinese.
