Thank you Martin, that fixed it for me. And I now realize what I did - a few days ago I was experimenting with Likewise-Open, and, because it didn't work for me, I deleted it. Every time I booted up, though, I noticed that there was some shell script that still called Likewise-Open, so I decided to do a find command that finds all instances of the phrase likewise and removes them as well. Little did I know that this would affect Cups. :/
