I don't know if it's only the arduino, the arduino clone that I'm using,
the FTDI chip, my specific hardware not playing well with the drivers or
something else that I'm not thinking of.

If someone wanted to try out the arduino that I have, I'd be happy to
purchase one from seeedstudio for them.  I only ask that if the bug
isn't able to be reproduced and fixed they would ship it to me when
finished (whoever can keep it if the bug is reproduced and fixed).
