David - It appears that you've booted a 3.0.0-16 kernel which is why
installing linux-image-extra-3.0.0-16-virtual directly works. However,
the current Oneiric kernel is 3.0.0-17. This is the same version
depended on by the meta-package linux-image-extra-virtual. I think
you'll find that 'sudo modprobe drbd' works fine if you reboot into the
-17 kernel.
