The settings were moved to gsettings as this was easier for packages to
override them.  The easiest way to set the defaults is to make an
override file in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/, e.g. unity-
greeter.override:

[com.canonical.unity-greeter]
draw-grid=false

Then run:
sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/
