Thank you Gary, that is similar to what I experienced :)

I got prompted for my account password during the install, typed it and
then went back to Software Center.

I noticed then that Dropbox was still not installed and I clicked on the
Dropbox icon on the Unity application launcher and it prompted me again.
I repeated this cycle a few times assuming I hat mistyped my password,

I realized the error of my ways when Dropbox popped up several of the
same dialog asking me to sign in or create an account. I canceled all
but one of the Dropbox dialogs and finished it.  Software Center still
showed it as in progress.  I now realize this is a flaw in the Dropbox
installer.

Rebooting Ubuntu fixed the status and allowed me to proceed with other
installs.  I did not try to restart Software Center and probably should
have :)

Should I report this issue to Dropbox?
