Thanks for following up. I guess there's not much we can do here.

Anyway, fs becoming corrupt after packaging upgrade does not sound like
the fault of any particular package; just that installing package
upgrades adds and changes a lot of files and creates writing disk
activity in /usr, which might trigger the corruption or hw fault.
