While all panels/menus were missing, I pulled up a command prompt and typed: sudo unity --reset
This brought up the missing Unity (3D) panels/menus, but it they only lasted for that session; when I log out and log back in they're missing again. I also attempted to reset my video drivers, Because remember, Unity (3D) desktop runs fine when I boot from the Live CD; Unity seems to be corrupted as a result of imperfections in the Upgrade process of going from 11.10 to 12.04 beta2. So, my reasoning is this: if I can get my upgraded-system to forget its video drivers, maybe it will rediscover them like the Live CD (which works) must do each time. I used the steps in the source below to reset all this stuff, but same result : when I login to unity (3D) not panels or menus show. source: http://askubuntu.com/questions/68306/how-do-i-restore-default- video-drivers I'll probably do a fresh install to fix this, but I wanted to document upgrade troubles. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/979871 Title: Unity-3D Doesn't Work After Upgrade, but DOES on Live CD Boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/979871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
