When you run npm, it crashes every time.  I am using Precise (12.04)
Beta 2, with updates as of 13 April 2012.  I Googled and Debian had the
same bug, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=664660 .
Debian fixed this by upgrading to a newer NPM.

I filed the crash bug as bug 980908.  (You might want to close that as a
dupe of this bug?)

Is it possible to take a newer NPM this close to the release? If not,
perhaps NPM should be dropped from Precise. Shipping a broken package
doesn't seem very useful...
