This has to do with the USB mouse.  If the mouse is not plugged in, the
boot time is much shorter.  The hang does not only happen during boot.
It happens any time when a USB key or mouse is plugged in.  It takes
about a minute for the device to be ready.

I run into this problem on Xubuntu oneiric 64bits on Dell XPS L501X.
However, the same system ron on Dell Studio 1450 does not have the
problem.
