Regarding the regression tag, the user had commented: "I should note that currently I'm unable to bring up X entirely with the intel driver. Too bad I didn't make a note of which upgrade this started with."
This sounds like the user had a working system, then updated some (undetermined) packages, and then this GPU lockup began happening. A more recent comment from the reporter indicates he's been having further troubles with testing: "@Bryce, this really is a messy one: I've so far dissected three overlapping issues (Bug #926007, Bug #926012 and Bug #926028) which have hindered my attempts to assist in debugging the one I originally laid down in this report. :)" i855 is not officially supported in Ubuntu any longer, so feel free to close this report, and I'll direct the reporter to contact upstream directly for further troubleshooting advice. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903831 Title: [i855] GPU lockup after 5 minutes playing video using VLC, etc. Works with fbdev.
