Q:Can you tell me exactly how you performed the save/restore?

A:I have used virt-manager and with this the graphical option for save.
Restoring is in virt-manager just starting the vm again.

Q:If you used libvirt, can you also give me the guest xml?

A:Yes, I attach it.

Q:Are you able to save/restore now, from/to the same kernel+qemu-kvm version?

A: After restarting the host the updated version works fine as far as I
could saw at this thime. So it is only on the switch between the
versions which makes problems for saved states from the old version.
