Thank you for your bug report, setting that key for the lightdm user
"com.canonical.unity-greeter draw-user-backgrounds false" then setting
"com.canonical.unity-greeter background" to the file you want should
work
i.e "sudo -u lightdm com.canonical.unity-greeter draw-user-backgrounds
false" or equivalent
Could you try if that solves your issues?
