same issue on Geforce 7150m... It started when i upgraded nvidia package in 12.04 beta (had not updated for about a week and a half) and did a fresh install this morning and same black screen with no responsiveness. The mouse arrow was the only thing i could see. beta and official version are 32-bit (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55)....
