EDITORIAL: I have been a faithful Ubuntu user, debugger, participant for years. It annoys me that the final release of 12.04 did not have a fix for this NVIDIA issue. I understand NVIDIA is a proprietorial driver but to disenfranchise all the NVIDIA users by Canonical is a slap in the face.
This bug has been reported in one fashion or another for a couple weeks and showed its face after an update a few weeks ago. It was a coding change in the packages that broke NVIDIA. Bad Canonical.
