I'm having the same type of issue. It seems to pop up when there is a unity issue like when I have the auto-hide turned on for the Nav bar and I try to switch desktops or when I tried to move a Chrome tab out of the current window into its own window.
My mouse buttons are not usable until I log out and back on. When I tried moving the Chrome tab, the window followed my mouse like the button was still depressed and no combination of keyboard or mouse buttons were able to break the 'stuckness'.
