Yes, that does it. However, it looks like there's another bug to raise, I'll explain it here for the benefit of others looking into the problem. The Unity launcher can not be accessed using the pen, because it requires the user to continue pushing leftwards once the pointer hits the edge, by centimetre or so - which works with a mouse but not the pen because I'm pretty sure that the tablet hardware does not report out-of-bounds co- ordinates - once you hit the edge that's it. This behaviour is new to 12.04, under 11.10 it worked OK.
