Kernel: 3.2.0-24-generic-pae

I have been running Ubuntu 12.04 since it was beta without any issues,
however, since last saturday (26/5) the error described in this bug
report started appearing in the logs and the computer randomly refuses
to boot. Sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesnt.

When it is unable to boot, I first get a pink plymouth screen and then a
completely black screen from which I am unable to do anything except a
hard reboot. Sometimes, the error message
'drm:intel_dsm_platform_mux_info] *ERROR* MUX INFO call failed' is
printed when I get the black screen, but it is always shown in the logs.

I noticed that an update to the kernel was installed a day earlier
(25/5) than when I first noticed the problem, perhaps there was
something in this update that caused the issue for me? As I said, I
never experienced this problem before that. The update I am mentioning
is the following:

linux-headers-3.2.0-24-generic (3.2.0-24.38, 3.2.0-24.39)
