Thanks for the update: it worked on my Desktop as previously posted[wubi] installation, but on my Dell laptop, it has not worked. Well, I'll stick with windows for now.

I noticed that an update to the kernel was installed a day earlier (25/5) than when I first noticed the problem, perhaps there was something in this update that caused the issue for me? As I said, I never experienced this problem before that.
