I found out that:
a) it only affects x64 systems
b) it is not related to ubuntu only, but also to fedora (and so I think on all
x64 systems)
c) it is related to the linux kernel, because I have a x64 windows and it works
"fine" (as far you can call windows fine ;) )
d) to run a x64 system though, you cann add the following kernel parameters
noapic pci=assign-busses apicmaintimer idle=poll reboot=cold,hard

e) The debug boot options says additionally
ACPI: Added _OSI(Processor Aggregator Device)
ACPI: EC: Loop up EC in DSDT
