I upgraded my ubuntu from precise to quantal to ensure this bug is fixed
at this ubuntu version, as it is the only one(video and keyboard+mouse
issues had workarounds) I hadn't found a workaround for my 12,1 imac
from the huge amount of information I researched upon. I consider I'm
done with research already.

The sound card codec is Cirrus Logic, the snd-hda-intel models for that
are imac27 and mbp55, I tried both, which results in internal speaker
sound as usual, thought it too gives speaker sound even with a headphone
connected to the imac 21,5(the headphone still does no work by the way);
the mac book pro and imac 27 have a different number of connectors
comparing to a 12,1 imac which have around 9 connectors(counting
thunderbolt, headphone mic and output, usbs ans such).

I tried using the latest ubuntu audio packages(throught their ppa, no
advanced stuff), updated kernel(only the 3.3.7 stable one works), the
snd-hda-intel thing and countless others(muting and unmuting for
example).

It seems this issue isnt fixed on Quantal, care to mark this bug as
affecting it? Maybe it can get more attention being related to the
future ubuntu version(the perfect time to report and fix bugs is now).
Also PLEASE let me know of a workaround for the headphones not working
at all(just the internal speakers) if you know of any or have the
knowledge to devise one.
