I'm glad you asked me that highly pertinent question!

Yes. It's sitting on my HP Server and appears to have installed fine
(using the stock Ubuntu Server USB image that UNetbootin created). If
you try and install the packages included on the original CD image then
you come unstuck because some of the file names are too long for vfat.
But what is the point of a large iso image if you have to install
everything off the internet... :-)

The disk would probably boot correctly (i.e. allow use of the normal
installer and local packages) by mounting the iso image in Grub
(multisystem chainloads Grub 2 from Grub4DOS) but I haven't got this to
work correctly yet...
