Please note this bug is still a problem with the latest release 12.04. using at least ubuntustudio. The bug had expired, I unexpired it rather than create a new bug... perhaps that was wrong, let me know where to go from here. This shows up when doing low latency audio work like using the computer as a guitar effect or a softsynth. With the wireless network on and connected, there is an xrun per minute. Turning the wireless off, either by using the netmanager or with the wireless switch on the computer makes things worse with an xrun every 5 seconds. using modprobe to remove the ath9k module fixes this. I suspect that having the wlan running while doing low latency audio will not work because of hardware reasons. However, the ath9k module needs to be fixed so that when netmanager turns it off or it has no hardware to play with, it resets itself or turns itself right off. This is important to ubuntustudio because these are the uses this flavour is designed for. We can (and will) tell our users how to unload badly behaved modules, but a fix would be preferable. > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671240 > > Title: > ath9k locks kernel in 10 ms, causing e g audio dropout, ath9k doesn't > reset when wireless is turned off. > > Status in âlinuxâ package in Ubuntu: > Incomplete -- Len Ovens www.OvenWerks.net -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671240 Title: ath9k locks kernel in 10 ms, causing e g audio dropout, ath9k doesn't reset when wireless is turned off.
