Adding info:
I just tested the latest upstream kernel (3.5.0-999) and the problem persists.
I got a kernel panic in less than 5 minutes after boot.
Unfortunately, I couldn't record the messages, but I could read that I got
something like "not syncing", "fatal exception in interrupt".
