@Brian: Once this bug gets fixed in a future resolvconf release you will find that resolv.conf contains only "nameserver 127.0.0.1". For now it contains also the VPN nameserver addresses. If that doesn't cause you trouble I'd say leave the configuration alone. If it does cause you trouble then put "exit 0" near the top of /etc/ppp/ip- up.d/000resolvconf.
