Do you still have this issue on an up to date Ubuntu 7.04? I had
openoffice.org-gtk and openoffice.org-gnome installed and it worked
fine, then I uninstalled them and the menu's look unthemed but it can
still open files with "รค" just fine.
If you are still having the problem does openoffice.org-kde fix the
UTF-8 issue when running under KDE?
