There is properly a fix for your problem it Ubuntu12.04. At this time it
is not planned as far as I can see to backport it to the kernel3.0.x
serie and with this to oneiric.

So, the chance is bad to get this fixed in oneiric.

Is it possible to you to make a distribution upgrade to 12.04? And
install after this also the proposed upgrades until you reached kernel
3.2.26.x?

This may help out of the box.

If you want to do, make a backup first of your system.(dejadup).
Sometimes the process fails.
