Tried many suggested fixes I found that did not fix problem before finally testing latest up stream kernel: 201206270421 Have been able to start and shut down several times without problem although very slow in that process. Also not crashing when using programs as before. But lost broadcom sta in process. On another computer now as no internet connection.
Seems reported bug fixed up stream.
