What you described in your last comments makes me think this is not a kernel 
issue, but some issue in your initrd.  And you're photo in comment #33 actually 
points this way: the first line points to an issue on the init script.

Could you please attach your init script in your initrd (from a broken
version)?  Here's an easy and dirty way to get it:

$ cp /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-25-generic /tmp
$ zcat initrd.img-3.2.0-25-generic | cpio -i
