I have similar problems: I'm running feisty (upgraded it from edgy). But I have a NVIDIA card. Beryl with XGL is installed, but KWin as window manager is loaded, not Beryl. After a few minutes (15-20) leaving my computer the freeze happens. Programmes like Amarok (while playing music) and Azureus still work, but I cannot press any buttons and do mouse clicks. Pressing the Power-Button on my computer's case shows the Logout / Shutdown / ... buttons.
