Ok, I tried, but I am struggling. I understand how to install a mainline
kernel and boot from it on my system, but that doesn't tell us anything
as it'd still be in legacy BIOS mode. How do I make a mainline livecd to
boot?

I tried this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1951153, but uck
crashes for an unspecified reason at the customization stage which is
how I'd add the mainline kernel.

I also tried customizing the ISO manually, but I don't think I did it
right as the boot procedure seems more complicated from a livecd.

I'm happy to do the test, but I just need instructions on how to do it.

This seemed to be a good idea:

testing
