I have probably the same problem. *Fresh Ubuntu 12.04 installation on a new/clean system. *mdraid (level 1) for /boot *mdraid (level 5 ) --> dm_crypt --> lvm *lv for / *lv for swap *all done within the ubuntu alternate installer *setup fails while trying to install grub with a fatal error.
After chrooting to /target and trying to install grub manually (grub-install /dev/sda), i get the same error: error: no such disk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027951 Title: grub-probe fails with "no such disk" when using /dev/mapper/vg0-rootlv, but now with /dev/dm-2 (which should be the same) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1027951/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
