Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
I'd be curious to know if you're using an Ubuntu derivative (Lubuntu,
Xubuntu, Kubuntu), because otherwise it'd be hard for the Gnome settings
daemon to not be running, which is what caused this crash. You could
potentially work around this bug by installing gnome-settings-daemon,
but that may not be feasible if you're using a derivative.
I'll mark this bug as Fix Released, since the development version has a
new way of reading the media keys that will not experience this problem.
