If I understand correctly, your system boots correctly after the problems in
Grub - is that correct?
If that's right, or at least you can login, then please run:
apport-collect 1014551
to add some log and detail to this report. Could you also please tell
us:
1) How is the monitor connected - standard VGA leads ?
2) Do you know the model of the video card you have?
3) If you could also attach the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log from your running
system that might tell us a bit more.
