Ok installed kernel version 3.4.6, the log entries are as follows for this kernel version
kernel: [ 0.750360] via_rhine: v1.10-LK1.5.0 2010-10-09 Written by Donald Becker kernel: [ 0.752875] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0: (unregistered net_device): Invalid MAC address: ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff kernel: [ 0.752955] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0: (unregistered net_device): Using random MAC address: 7e:12:82:43:68:88 kernel: [ 0.753135] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0: eth0: VIA Rhine II at 0xdfffe000, 7e:12:82:43:68:88, IRQ 23 kernel: [ 0.753934] via-rhine 0000:00:12.0: eth0: MII PHY found at address 1, status 0x786d advertising 01e1 Link 45e1 Does same as before on the stock 3.2.0-27 generic kernel but the more recent 3.4.6 version still showing the same (unregistered net_device). Have noticed the via driver does seem to have changed versions and also this kernel overides my ndvida card driver by using a VESA nv42, but i will fix the video driver as it doesnt seem to be related. One thing i have noticed regarding this rhine driver is i havent as yet got the transmit queue timeout i got with the 3.2.0-27 kernel. Will try with version v3.6-rc1-quantal next weekend and see what i get. regards Barry -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1027542 Title: 1106:3065 unrecognised ethernet hardware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1027542/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
