Achilies12 are you using the unity desktop environment or are you using XFCE desktop (which is the default for Xubuntu)?
You can reset unity easily by logging into another console (ctrl-alt f1) and typing the following: DISPLAY=$DISPLAY:0 export DISPLAY unity --reset then switch back (ctrl-alt f7). It might take a minute for the reset to complete. Hopefully that should work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963633 Title: Unity 5.8: Login to blank screen (all black or just wallpaper) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/963633/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
