The network applet is still usable and you can connect to networks even
if the signal level is 0, right? (I mean this so it's an annoyance, not
something that completely breaks wifi)
Perhaps I'll just remove the original workaround and cherry-pick a
different, slightly more intrusive patch to NM, since we'll eventually
backport newer kernels which will also have similar issues.
