It isn't clear to me yet if this is a local configuration problem on
your system or if this is a bug in Ubuntu.
Please can you try "sudo apt-get -f install" and see if this fixes your
problem? If not, please post the output of the following two commands:
dpkg-query -W update-inetd
stat /usr/sbin/update-inetd
Once you have responded, please change the status of this bug back to
New.
