I didn't test with prior versions. This is a new laptop with Win8 pre- installed, and installed Quantal in parallel.
I read somewhere that older Ubuntu versions can't be installed in dual- boot with Win8 because of some UEFI/secure boot problem. I'm not sure if this is true so I'm reluctant to try, just to find out in the middle of the installation phase that things won't work out as expected.
