Upstart jobs start depending on certain signals being emitted by other jobs (cf. http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/#startup-process for further details). If you have two .conf files both depending on the EXACT same set of signals (as both lightdm.conf AND kdm.conf do) starting different display managers, the only option is to disable one of the .conf files. And this is not done when encountering the situation described above. Hence the filing of this bug report.
A suitable solution could, for example, check the presence of any other *dm.conf file in /etc/init and disable it accordingly as part of the dpkg configuration process for installing its own display manager .conf file in /etc/init. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004932 Title: kdm.conf file not removed after dpkg-reconfigure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1004932/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
