Assuming I'm translating this correctly, this issue was fixed in 12.04,
as shown in this bug: #806606.
You can use my PPA version if you don't want to upgrade, from the bug
comment in 806606:
I have a proposed fix for this in my PPA: ppa:mfisch/gnome-nettool
