Eric, this scanner works fine in Linux. I have used it under Debian for
a couple of years. There are two ways to get the scanimage tool to see
the scanner:

1. ln -s /dev/sg4 /dev/scanner (and make sure you have permissions on /dev/sg4)
2. Use --device canon:/dev/sg4 as an argument (not tested)

Unfortunately my FS2710 just broke, won't complete self-test which is
why I was looking around the net to see if someone near me has an unused
one to sell.
