OK, finally got around to testing this. I tested both the kernel that ships with Raring daily images and a mainline kernel, these are the versions:
Linux kernel x86 boot executable bzImage, version 3.8.0-2-generic (buildd@komainu) #6-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 25 22:03, RO-rootFS, swap_dev 0x5, Normal VGA Linux kernel x86 boot executable bzImage, version 3.8.0-030800rc5-generic (root@gomeisa) #201301251535 SMP Fri Ja, RO- rootFS, swap_dev 0x5, Normal VGA With both, I installed nvidia-current, suspended, then resumed the system. Unlike the original report, both kernels with nvidia-current are able to restore the backlight and resume without issues. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069893 Title: [Dell Studio XPS 1340] Screen backlight doesn't turn on after suspend when using proprietary NVidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069893/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
