Can you test the latest v3.8-rc6 kernel, which can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.8-rc6-raring/
Also, do you happen to know if this happens with the nouveau driver?
That would be a good test.
