Bug still present in Ubuntu 12.10, with 3.5.0-23-generic kernel. My laptop model is Asus 1215B, with the following wireless card:
01:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01) The connection works only when I'm a few meters from the router. If I go a little further, the connection keeps dropping. Also, I can only find one or two wireless stations, when there are around 10 in the area. Even my old Nokia phone can find more stations than my new laptop with Ubuntu 12.10. It is a REALLY annoying bug.
